Why do people adore the Blessed Sacrament?

"In a world where there is so much noise, so much bewilderment, there is a need for silent adoration of Jesus concealed in the Host. Be assiduous in the prayer of adoration and teach it to the faithful. It is a source of comfort and light, particularly to those who are suffering."

“With the Synod Assembly, therefore, I heartily recommend to the Church's pastors and to the people of God the practice of Eucharistic Adoration, both individually and in community.”

Pope Benedict XVI, February 22, 2007, Sacramentum Caritatis, Post Synodal Apostolic Exhortation

The words spoken in 2007 by Pope Benedict the XVI concerning adoration of the Blessed Sacrament still hold true in 2014. Adoration is to God alone and no one else. It is the highest honor we can give to God our Creator, our Redeemer, our Sanctifiers while on earth. "You shall worship the Lord, your God, and Him alone shall you serve." (Luke 4:8, Mt 4:10)

After the resurrection, Jesus told his disciples, "And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." (Mt 26:26-28, Mk 14:22-24, Lk 22:19-20). This statement is fulfilled in the reality of Jesus' Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament thus:

In the hand of the priest at Mass
Reserved in the tabernacle in the heart of churches
Right before our very eyes in EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
