Opportunities for Women

Guild of St. Mary
The Guild is a 75 year old philanthropic organization affiliated with the Church of St. Mary.   This group of nearly 600 women provides the perfect opportunity to meet new people, help others, and grow in faith. Our activities include food and clothing drives, assistance to women and children and gift sharing collections at Christmas and Easter.

The Guild is divided into smaller groups, called Circles, which are named after Saints. Joining a Circle is a wonderful way to grow in your faith, give back to your community, and enjoy friendships that can last a lifetime. If you have any questions, please contact Margee Burke at (847) 234-8223 or mburke214@aol.com. Please join us as we continue the traditions of this marvelous 75 year old organization! Click Here for more information about the Guild.

St. Mary's Bible Study program will offer Jeff Cavin's program on Acts of the Apostles, beginning this fall. Come see how Christ empowered the apostles and early disciples to carry out His work in the world. The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did while on earth.

Acts provides an historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament and focuses especially on Paul's letters and his travels. You will discover many things by participating:

  • See how the Gospel witness spread outward in waves, from Jerusalem to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • Share with the early Christians the joys and struggles of living the life of Christ, and learn how these apply to us today.
  • See how the Holy Spirit guided the apostles into Truth.
  • Observe the way the Spirit-filled Church adapted to new cultures when proclaiming the Gospel.
  • Watch the seeds of the Church take root, and see how early conflicts were resolved.
  • Find your place in Christ's Church, and how you should live day-to-day as His disciple.

Come join us and get to know God better through His holy word. Classes will meet every Thursday morning from 9:00 - 11:15 a.m. and every Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. beginning Septemeber 9, 2010 in the Parish Center.

Cost for the materials for the 21 week program is $50, and includes the Ignatian Study Bible. To register, click here to print out your registration, or stop by the Parish Office to complete your registration in person.
