As the bread, which comes from
the
earth, on receiving the invocation
of the Holy Spirit, is no longer common
bread, but the Eucharist, and is then both earthly and heavenly; so our bodies,
after partaking of the Eucharist are no longer corruptible, but have the hope of
eternal resurrection . . .

When in the Mass the priest
pronounces the words of the Eucharistic Consecration,
“This is my Body, this is my Blood,”
the underlying reality of the bread and wine is changed into
the Body and Blood of Christ,
given for us as his sacrifice for the life of his Church.
Christ is really and substantially present in his Eucharist under the
appearances of bread and wine.
Our Faith teaches us that the Eucharist is given to us,
not only as food for our journey
as we make our way through this world,
but as an abiding sign of Christ’s enduring presence.
As such, the Church presents the Eucharist before us and
invites us to adore in it the mystery of God in Christ.
The Liturgy for Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed
Sacrament
is offered at St. Mary’s Parish on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00
p.m.
Join us for this hour of prayer, praise and adoration.
